“Nail Artist” David Foster is launching a collection at The Paragon Gallery on Friday 9th May and will be joining us in the gallery from 12 – 2pm on Saturday 10th May.
There cannot be many artists in the world who create works of art with a hammer and nails. If there are, David Foster must be one of the finest. Marilyn Monroe, Mick Jagger, John Lennon, Nelson Mandela and iconic buildings and wildlife have all been subjected to this ultra-tactile form of art.
David has always been fascinated with how little information the brain needs to interpret a picture. With a career in architecture behind him and a love of technical drawing, David experimented with pen and ink to create light and dark simply by stippling dots. Now he uses thousands of tiny nails to create the dots, delivering all the nuances of a painting but with incredible texture and dimension.
